Scholarships and Virtual Collection Plate
Each year the MLK Commemoration Committee awards scholarships based on academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, and civic engagement to graduating high school seniors and current college students so they can continue their education. We do this through the generous support of our sponsors and a free-will offering at our MLK service.
You have the option of donating to the MLK scholarships online. Donations in any amount are welcome. You may also send your checks made out to “The MLK Commemoration Committee” with “scholarships” in the memo line to P.O. Box 888, Carlisle, PA 17013.
The PayPal button above will point you to the MLK scholarships donation page. Please note that the Carlisle MLK Commemoration is affiliated with the Carlisle Area Religious Council.
In an effort to broaden the impact of these scholarships within the greater Carlisle community, the Committee also invites students graduating from the Carlisle GED program who plan to attend community college, college, or skill training programs to apply for this scholarship as well. Additional scholarships will be available as funding permits for other adult members of the community who are pursuing or plan to pursue education or skills training programs.
Applicants should demonstrate adherence to the principles that guided Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., such as an unwavering commitment to non-violence and to policies that eliminate racial inequities and advance racial justice.
